New Delhi: Mehar Mohammed Khalil, the bus driver whose smart thinking and quick reactions saved the lives of the Sri Lankan cricketers on Tuesday, is the brother of a mujahideen who was killed by the Indian army in Kashmir in 1995, reports The Times, London.
Khalil, 38, lives with his parents and brothers in a small house built by his grandfather in Lahore’s overcrowded Yateem Khana district. As he spoke to The Times reporter, “a relative whisked away a photograph of his dead brother, Shakil, with a Kalashnikov rifle over his shoulder, a camouflage cap on his head and a radio in one hand. Printed in Urdu across the photograph were the words: Mujahid martyred in Kashmir. Died in Udhampur, India, 25 August 1995. Codename: Abdullah.’’
Newspaper records show that on August 24, 1995, a terrorist codenamed Abdullah of Harkat-ul-Ansar was killed during an attack on an army camp in Bandipore, in Kashmir. Pak bus driver gets Rs 5L for heroics
New Delhi: Pakistan bus driver Mehar Mohammed Khalil, who has been praised for his quick thinking in saving the Sri Lankan cricketers on that fateful day, is a supporter of Jamaat-e-Islami, a legal Islamist political party that wants to impose sharia across Pakistan.
“This attack would never have happened under Jamaat,’’ he told The Times, as he posed for photographs wearing the Sri Lankan team shirt given by the grateful players. The bus driver works for New Diamond travel agency and earns 15,000 Pakistani rupees per month. The father of two sons and two daughters, Khalil was rewarded Rs 5 lakh for his heroism.
Like most Pakistanis, he was unwilling to consider the possibility that the attackers were homegrown. He seemed convinced that they were from India.
“Their complexions were Indian-type,’’ he said. “They were definitely not Pakistani. Foreign forces are involved in this.’’
This scarcely detracts from Khalil’s act of courage. But his story typifies the curious contradictions that exist in Pakistani society. AGENCIES "

WIth newer thins coming out of the investigatoin of the Lahore attacks the picture i had in mind is getting clearer.........
Pakistan says tht it was done by Indian agencies.......n it jus makes me laugh........firstly they fabricate such an attack n then they blame us........sometime i so feel to jus blow away Pak out of this world............What amazing security Pak provides to Sri Lankan Team !!!!!
The Attackers come fire at will , blow some grenades, even try to blow the bus with a rocket n then sit in their Auto n car n run away..........so pretty easy......N not one was caught......how is tht possible......the police says they got lost in the crowd........hehehehe..........amazing......the Driver says they were INDIAN lik e n then the police say tht the attackers got lost in the crowd........wat a joke......Pakistanis are so diff from INdians.......we can make out a pakistani from within a million Indians...........
Also the above article clearly says that the driver was brother of a terrorists killed in INDIA in 95.......i m not sayin tht he mit also b involved......but u never noe, its pakistan......
Also he supports a party which want SHARIA law in entire Pakistan..........now wat else does anyone need to come to the picture tht this was a FABRICATED ATTACK.........Everythin was planned is wat i think.......if not how come the driver din get hit even once......the bus on its front had only glass.............N don tell me tht terrorist with Commando training can miss in such a way........i can jus keep rittin on this whole day long.........
the only thin saving Pakistan is tht they hav Nuclear War heads and also tht INdian Government have never been proactive n hard on Pakistan........I suggest we need someone lik MODI who can jus act the TALK..........
